Train Naked

Today, shuck off the harness and leash. Train naked! March about in grand and glorious nudity, and enjoy progress.

The more we use a leash, harness, and other gear, the stronger the message becomes that the gear is the cue for good behavior. The more we train with gear, the more the dog sprints away when the leash is removed.

Traditional dog trainers who think in concrete terms divide training into on- and off-leash. This teaches the dog and owner to rely on the training gear rather than the owner. Off-leash training starts at the beginning, when the puppy is still too young to vote.

In this video, we see an owner training her first dog, a five-month-old Lab named Bobo. No leash, harness, treat bag swinging at the dog's nose, or GPS. Nope. Just an engaged dog listening to an owner who does not rely on gear to teach. Bobo learns from an early age that his owner is the teacher, not a piece of cotton in a six-foot length.

Today, fly free! Train in an enclosed, safe area and teach your dog you are the Grand PoBah, not a leash. Use the magic ingredient of training,  encouragement,  as you teach the dog to listen to you, not the harness.
