And, you'll learn to teach him a whistle (I provide them) and special hand signal command, too.

Hi Sue,

Hope you and yours are doing well

I wanted to share something with you.  A few months ago, I met a new neighbor who moved in directly across the street from me.  She and I both like to walk our dogs in the morning, so my Mr. Bear met my neighbor’s dog Stevie the Lab, and the four of us started our morning walks together.

Yesterday morning I was getting ready to leave my home for a doctor’s appointment.  I could see that Bear was thinking that he was going for a walk with Stevie, so I sat him down in his wait spot, and told him I would be right back.  Naturally, I put Golden Girls on the television (since he loves Betty White) and out the door I went.   I realized that I forgot my keys so back in the house I went.  When I opened my front door again to leave,  Bear decided he wanted to come with me and in a split second squeezed through the closing screen door and ran out the door.    I bolted after Bear, called his name….and then I saw it!
Bear bolted to run across the street to get to Stevie's house just as a fast moving car turned the corner onto our cul-de-sac.  I yelled out Bear’s name and he was deaf to me.  As he took his first step out into the street with the van approaching, I remembered……. DANGER DANGER.  I yelled it as loud as I could and Mr. Bear immediately put on the brakes, turned around and trotted back to me.

I ran Bear back into the house  and sat down because my heart was in my throat.  All of this happened in mere seconds.   Running out the door was something Bear had not done before, so I learned today, that even well trained dogs are still dogs.

I wanted to extend my sincere and heartfelt thanks for your Emergency Come When Called class.  It saved Bear’s life today.  I am forever thankful for you and your class.  I encourage all to take that class.

- Pete, Cheryl and Mr. Bear
